Anyalisis of Studios
Throughout this course we were assigned a total of 12 studio assignments. Each studio introduced a new topic that would be discussed in class or was a building block for future assignments. Studio assignments were done individually however, a large portion of work in this class was done on a team basis. Most studios had a prompt that included a word count minimum of 1000 words, and required outside research that could become very time consuming. Throughout the series of different studios the five main learning outcomes were covered such as rhetorical knowledge, critical reading, composing process, knowledge of conventions and critical reflection.Below I included two different studios that analyzed two different concepts both rhetoric and conventions. Studios allowed us to apply the learning outcomes sometimes using even more than one per assignment. Studios opened a gateway for a discussion in the following class, a lot of the time resulting in every member of the class sharing an aspect of their writing. While listening to other members of the class speak my mind was always blown listening to the different ways people think when that thought had never even crossed my mind. A large portion of class time was spent discussing topics and discussions in small groups which resulted in getting to know your entire class. Often in small groups we would share our studios which made me more comfortable displaying my work. Overall the studios were very beneficial not only to the learning of the key objectives but help to establish my writing.

Studio 3: Rhetorical SituationStudio 3 introduced one of the five course learning objectives that being rhetoric. For this assignment we were given a series of videos and other tools to view and analyze to come up with our own definition of the term rhetoric. I introduced rhetoric as "a tool that people have been using in writing and speaking for centuries" and then went on to say "it uses tools such as logos, ethos and pathos in order for you to identify the audience and establish a message for that specific audience". After learning the history and the meaning of rhetoric we were asked to see how we used or could have used rhetoric better in our past assignment. This forced us to not only learn the term but also apply it. Upon reflecting on our past literary website which was a collection of over five literary narratives from childhood I explained in depth how logos, ethos, and pathos affected the reader of that team website. This assignment taught how rhetoric should be used to appeal to the writer and how it can help boost your work. I soon found myself applying rhetoric in other courses such as my LBST papers and psychology assignments. The overall goal of the assignment was to prepare us to use these tools in our final but it reached further than that to help myself not only in writing but in the conversations I have in my everyday life.

Studio 10: Personal Inquiry 2 The assignments for both studio 9 and studio 10 were both identical to each other. Two key concepts played a role in this assignment. We once again looked at rhetoric but also a new theme of conventions was introduced. Each assignment called for an analysis of roughly fifteen pages of reading and an analysis of two different aspects of work in other classes. I chose studio 10 to display because it provided a better reflection of my personal learning experiences upon entering the university. The document that reflected on for both of these assignments was a study that followed the grades and learning of a first year college student. It was eye opening to that of myself being in the same shoes as the student studied. Both the person and myself face struggles upon entering enough and it was reassuring that his felt a lot more troubling than my own. Upon looking at my own personal conventions and reflected upon those. Reflecting upon applying conventions to other class my psychology lab immediately came to mind and how my writing suffered due to my lack of knowledge in APA format. Once I spoke to my professor and learned the proper format my grade quickly improved. These was a make it or break it point in my first semester. UWRT being a freshman only course tries to incorporate some of the struggles that you might be making and helps you to cope with them while encouraging improvement. This assignment in particular helps to target those areas of struggling and then learn from them.
